QUAD Systems

Probes can be delicate and tricky to handle, so it’s important that they’re cared for correctly to minimise damage.

Here are some tips on how to handle probes and extend their lifespan:

  • It is important to run systems efficiently, if possible, spreading the workload on more instruments is can aid productivity and leads to a higher average running time. For instance, four instruments can be run at 75%, instead of three instruments running at 100%, leading to inevitable repairs.
  • Good practices (GLP) aid probe lifetimes by reducing the likelihood of damage.
  • Encourage automated data collection and only those users who have received adequate training should be allowed to undertake non-routine measurements.
  • Staff members should receive training to spot issues when they arise and aim to fix a problem before it becomes a major issue requiring service engineering and intervention.
